Premier Wade MacLauchlan presents the Premier's Craft Education Award to (R-L) Marie Kenny, Maureen Shea, and Natalie Loo during WI Awards Ceremony at Old Home Week.

Since 1924, the PEIWI has played an integral part in Old Home Week. The PEIWI Handcrafts, Horticulture and Arts Show is an annual competition of arts and crafts submitted from Islanders artisans. The Premier’s Craft Education Award is a $3000 prize to fund training and skill development of the chosen crafter and craft on Prince Edward Island.

Women's Institute members are invited to click your needles together for PEI babies

Period of Purple Crying® is a prevention program to help educate parents and caregivers about normal infant crying and the dangers of shaking an infant. Members are asked to support this program by knitting or crocheting purple baby caps. Hats are still needed. Please inquire or drop off at the WI office.

Since the first branch on PEI was established in 1911, the Prince Edward Island Women's Institute (PEIWI) has been creating positive change in our Island communities. With close to 85 branches and well over 1,000 members, the women of the PEIWI focus on home, family, and culture through collaboration and sharing.

We invite you to learn more about the PEIWI and find out for yourself how you can make a difference.

WI Island Product Cooking

Contest PEIWI will be hosting the 3rd Annual Cooking Contest for students in grades 7-12. The final round cookoff event will be during WI’s Founder's Day on February 2017. Details on cash prizes and entry details now available! Deadline to submit recipes has passed.

Founder's Day

Founder's Day will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 15 at the Farm Centre starting at 1:30 pm. To register please contact the WI Office at or 902-368-4860 by Wednesday, February 8. Further details available.

Spring Is in the Air Gala Dinner

The 2017 Gala Dinner is slated for Friday, April 7 at Red Shores in Charlottetown.  PEI Women's Instituteis pleased to announce proceeds will be going to the Community Hospital in O’Leary and the Western Hospital in Alberton.  For tickets please contact the office at 902-368-4860.

Roadside Cleanup

The 2017 Roadside Clean up will be held Saturday, May 13! Cash prizes winners were announced for 2016!

2017 WI Handcraft, Horticulture and Arts Show

The 93rd Handcrafts, Horticulture, Arts Show at the provincial exhibition is scheduled for August 10 to 19, 2017. Check out the 2016 RESULTS  including People Choice Awards for both weeks!

For your reference the 2017 handbook is available online. It includes the details on the Premier's Craft Education Award -with three grants of $1,000 each.

Fall Workshops

A variety of topics were explored in this year's Fall Workshops, including the lives of women and girls in Afghanistan, personal budgeting, and a hands on trendy art project.  For those wishing more information please refer to our "Speaker Series" listing to contact the speakers.
