Senator Cairine Wilson Competition
Entries are now invited for the Senator Cairine Wilson Competition for the 2015-2018 Triennium. This award was begun in 1957 by Senator Cairine Wilson for the most outstanding project in citizenship. Over the decades, a multitude of topics have been researched and entered.
Topic: Scrapbook with Journalling: “Chronicling My WI Journey”
Format:
– 12″x12″ Scrapbook with page protectors
– No less than 10 double sided pages, no more than 20 double sided pages
– Work must have been completed in the last 3 years
– Journalling must be hand-written
– Your name and branch in a sealed envelop attached to the inside of the back cover

Any Women’s Institutes member can enter. Entires are to be sent to the Provincial Offices, who will be responsible for their own competition(s) and eliminations. The Provincial Offices may then each submit one entry to the national FWIC competition.
All winning provincial entries are to be forwarded to the Manitoba WI office in Brandon to be reviewed no later than June 1 2018. A one hundred dollar ($100.00) cash prize will be awarded to the national winner.

The essay is to be typed on 8 ½” x 11” white paper. Entrant's name and branch are to be placed in a sealed envelope and attached to the back of the essay. Entries are to be sent to the Provincial Office at:

TOPIC – Canada through the Eyes of a New Canadian
Interview a person, male or female of any age who obtained Canadian Citizenship within the last 10 years.
FORMAT – One of the following:
1. An essay between 600 – 800 words accompanied by photographs.
2. Interview – Questions and answer format accompanied by photographs
3. Power Point presentation.
Entrants name and branch to be placed in a sealed envelope and attached to the back of the entry.

AWARD – A one hundred dollar ($100.00) cash prize will be awarded to the winner.
Any Women’s Institute may enter. One Entry will be chosen from across PEI.
Entries to be sent to the provincial office by January 15, 2015.
The winner of this competition will be announced at the FWIC National Convention in Fredericton, NB in June 2015. Besides the $100.00 Award a miniature replica trophy will be presented for permanent possession. The original trophy is on display at the Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Homestead.
