About the Event
PEIWI will commemorate Founder’s Day on February 14th.
This year’s theme will be a historical recount of founding women across PEI. Guest speaker Ed MacDonald, Professor from UPEI, will set the stage by elaborating on women’s involvement pre-WI for the panel featuring: Marie Kenny speaking on history of ACWW and FWIC; Carol MacLellan will give a historical perspective of the provincial exhibition; and Helen MacEwen will elaborate WI women’s efforts during war times. A Valentine Greeting Card exchange will also take place with attendees bringing a card simulating childhood exchanges. A ‘Fun and Nonsense’ segment will end the insightful morning. Registration deadline is February 7th and can be done online through the PEIWI website, by calling 902-368-4860 or emailing at wi@gov.pe.ca. The morning session is open to the public.
