Guest speaker will be Josh MacFadyen, UPEI Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Geospatial Humanities
Josh will walk delegates through how millennials and other families are flocking to small town Canada. They value large properties, coastal areas,
and access to amenities, so PEI has received a significant share of this population growth. The arrival of many new immigrants, from within Canada and beyond, has made the Island a better place for everyone. However, what are the costs to the so-called "Island way of life," and how has growth shaped agriculture, small town housing, and other rural land use change? As an Island historian and an Islander who grew up on a farm in Hazel Grove, MacFadyen explores how the history of rural and small town PEI made this Island a unique part of Canada.
